Our Purpose

The Purpose of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church is:

"To communicate the Gospel Message: compelling people to commit to Membership, seek Spiritual Maturity, display evidence of Authentic Worship, engage in Christian Service, and fulfill their purpose in Life Missions."

Our History

The Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church of Tuskegee, Alabama dates back to the year 1904. History reveals that the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church is an outgrowth of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, which was organized in 1858, and is the oldest Negro-founded Baptist Church in Tuskegee and the third oldest such church in the State of Alabama.

The Reverend J. S. Kelsey, a former Pastor of Mt. Olive, became Friendship's first Pastor. Reverend Kelsey, a very dynamic, determined, and versatile leader, carried a great following with him and attracted others to join him from the community as well as other parishes. The growth of the church, over time and many Pastors created the need for our current church building.

Many years have passed since Friendship began and in our most recent history under the leadership of Sr. Pastor Frank Centrallo, Friendship has revisited it's spiritual foundation to prepare for growth in this present age. Today, under the leadership of Pastor Domecia Manuel Friendship is realizing it's purpose and inspiring believers to have authentic relationships with God.
